One of these fixtures is the single light; the single light is mostly used in lighting the house. Single lights include fluorescent tube lights, LED lights and many other types of bulbs. The installation of such lights is pretty standard and can be done within minutes.
Another kind of lighting is recessed lights. When compared to the single light where the bulb is usually protruding, a recessed lights is the opposite. Recessed lights usually include a casing in order to focus the light in a specific area. Recessed lights include small light bulbs as well as LED lights. The installation of these is the same as other ceiling fixtures which will be tackled below.
Another common ceiling fixture is the ceiling fan. The idea of installing a ceiling fan is to circulate the air around the room. If you would like to know how to install a ceiling fan or any of the common ceiling fixtures, follow the 6 easy steps below. Perfect Painting & Remodeling can even assist in these tasks.
Step 1 – Ensure that the power is cut off
Electricity can be dangerous, especially when used carelessly. In order to ensure your safety, always cut the power by turning off the fuse and test the wire for any traces of electricity prior to installing any electrical devices. If you are uncomfortable dealing with electricity, remember to give Perfect Painting & Remodeling a call.
Step 2 – Remove the wire cover
Using a wire stripper, remove the wire cover to about an inch. The stripped wire will be connected to the fixture that will be installed. If you need help stripping wires, Perfect Painting & Remodeling can help with that, too!
Step 3 – Install the electrical box
If you do not have an electrical box installed yet, you may have to install it by using the screws included in the electrical box. You can use a screwdriver to install these screws.
Step 4 – Connect the wires together
Look for the piece of wire in the fixture; using the wire stripper, remove the wire cover, exposing at least an inch of wire. Once this is done, you can simply connect the two wires together. Ensure that the wires are connected correctly, if you have a color coded wire, ensure that wires of the same colour are connected tightly. Remember, electrical wires are no joke, give Perfect Painting & Remodeling a call if you need assistance.
Step 5 – Cover the wires
Once the wires are connected, use wire nets to cover the wires. If wire nets are not available, you can also use an electrical tape to cover the live wire and place it inside the electrical box.
Step 6 – Install the screw and test for connection
Once the wires are inside the electrical box, you can then install the screw to cover the box; additional screws may be needed to install the fixture in the ceiling. Once all the screws are installed and the fixture is secure, you may then turn the power back on and test the connection. You should have a working connection and a working fixture once the power is back on.
